NY Times: New York police recruit Muslim informants
A new report reveals New York City police have been recruiting immigrants, mainly Muslims, to act as informants since the 9/11 attacks.
The New York Times report found that police recruited immigrants to eavesdrop in cafes, restaurants and mosques.
Police interviewed hundreds of people, many of whom were arrested for minor infractions.
Many Muslim immigrants reportedly said they felt like they had no choice but to cooperate with police.
New York police said the interviews were an effective way to prevent another terrorist attack.
