Jordan Lynch celebrated the news on Twitter by posting: “BEARDOWN!!!!”
In other words, the former Northern Illinois quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist will get a shot with the Chicago Bears.
Lynch’s agent, Cliff Brady, confirmed to the Tribune on Saturday that Lynch is signing a free agent contract with the Bears. Lynch said last week that he is open to switching positions – perhaps to running back or defensive back – to make the NFL.
The Mount Carmel product said Chicago was the only team he worked out for individually – and that he has never been to a Bears game.
“Whatever I can do to help a team out, I’m willing to do,” he told the Tribune’s Shannon Ryan. “Whatever I can do to get my foot in the door. I’ll run down the field on special teams.”
