Mayor turns to radio DJ’s to help stop city violence
A series of shootings across the city has injured at least 14 people since 5 p.m. Thursday night.
In one incident, a man and woman were shot through the wall of a house as they sat in the living room in the 300 block of East 136th street in south suburban Riverdale.
Both are in stable condition at Metro South Hospital.
A man and woman were also hit by shots near 104th and Wentworth after 9 p.m.
The woman was treated at the scene, the man walked to nearby Roseland Hospital for treatment of a wound in his backside.
Another shooting… this one a drive by… on the far North side injured two men who were attending a barbeque in the 1200 block of Touhy in Rogers Park.
On Friday, Mayor Emanuel and some radio personalities got together to announce a new anti-violence campaign called the “Put Down the Guns ” initiative.
The program promotes safety and violence prevention throughout the city.
The announcement comes after another violent night.
At least 14 people were wounded in shootings overnight.
