Cruisin Illinois: Uncovering the mysteries of Cahokia

We’re Cruisin’ into Illinois’ past with an archeological adventure.  More than a thousand years ago, Native-Americans built the mysterious city of Cahokia near modern-day St. Louis.  Scholars can’t fully explain the pyramid-like mounds at Cahokia or why residents suddenly abandoned the site, close to 1400 AD.  But just a few miles away in East St. Louis, archeologists are starting to piece together the mystery.

While excavating for the new Musial Veterans Memorial Bride, excavators with the Illinois Department of Transportation made a startling discovery.  And their once-in-a-lifetime find is drawing world-wide attention.
