Baby found safe after allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint by father
A baby who was allegedly kidnapped by her father at gunpoint has been found.
Chicago police say a man took a 4-month-old child at gunpoint early Monday on the city’s South Side .
It happened in the 1100 block of East 82nd Street around 3:30 a.m. today.
Police say there was some sort of domestic argument there.
A father ended up kicking in a door, and taking his 4-month old baby girl at gunpoint.
Officers caught up with the man around 9 a.m. about a block from the apartment and tackled him.
Police then recovered the infant in a home at 81st and Woodlawn.
A family friend, Monica Williams, told reporters the man brought the baby to her home.
Williams said her main concern was making sure the baby was safe.
The baby was brought to Comer Children’s Hospital for observation.
