Community gathers for slain teen; 3rd suspect charged
The investigation into a teen’s shooting death continues as Chicago police look at cell phone video allegedly recorded at the scene. Meanwhile, the girl’s community gathered Wednesday night to try and make sense of it all.
Three people have been charged in connection with the death of 14-year-old Endia Martin. Police say they aren’t ruling out the possibility of more charges tied to her death. That decision likely hinges on the the video someone captured at the scene 900 block of West Garfield Monday afternoon.
The third defendant was wheeled into court today. 25-year-old Donnell Flora wiped his face as he learned he, too, was charged with first degree murder and held on a $3 million dollars bond.
Flora is accused of supplying his niece with a loaded .38 caliber handgun, the gun used to kill Endia Martin.
Flora himself is a gunshot victim and has been paralyzed since 2010.
Tonight at a vigil in the neighborhood, family, friends and members of the community wept and prayed for an end to the violence that has taken some many of their children too soon.
