Daycare worker imprisoned for baby’s 2003 death free
A daycare worker imprisoned for a decade for the death of a baby is now free pending her appeal.
Jennifer Del Prete was released from downstate Logan Correctional Center this afternoon.
She was convicted of killing a 14-month-old baby in 2003 at a Romeoville daycare center.
Last week, a judge found that evidence points to her innocence and criticized the science behind the Shaken Baby Syndrome used to convict her.
