Teen shot and killed; 2nd teen charged

A 14-year-old girl was charged with first degree murder in the shooting to death another teen last night.
Prosecutors say the premeditation in this murder was clear.
They say the gun originally jammed. But the 14-year-old suspect handed it off to someone else, who fixed it. The girl took the gun again, aimed and fired at a group of people.
Inside juvenile court today, the girl spoke softly, wearing a bright pink shirt with black pants and a sweater. The honor roll student from John Hope College prep in the killing of 14-year-old Endia Martin yesterday afternoon in the 900 block of West Garfield.
Endia’s family said the fight that began on Facebook escalated to a physical fight and then the shooting, with two groups of people fighting.  A 16-year-old girl was injured. Endia was shot in the back and died.
Prosecutors say the gun, which was stolen from a car on April 13th, was given to the teen.
Two other people, including an adult uncle of the teenage suspect, also face charges.
The girl will be held in juvenile detention until her next court appearances in June. If convicted, she faces 6 years in jail, and would go free when she turns 21.
So far, no other charges are filed in this case.
