A 14 year-old girl is charged with shooting to death another 14 year-old girl over a boy.

Endia Martin was shot in the back at Peoria and Garfield in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Monday afternoon. Martin was on her way home from Tilden Career Community Academy at the time, and was just blocks from her house. Counselors are on-hand at Tilden on Tuesday.

The teen accused of the murder is charged as a juvenile, and her 24-year-old uncle and a 17-year-old boy are also facing charges.

Police Supt. Garry McCarthy says it appears the two individuals knew the suspect and knew there was going to be a fight, and may have brought the .38-caliber handgun to the scene, and possibly tried to get rid of it afterwards.

He attacked Illinois’ gun laws for its connection to this crime.

“The circumstances of that firearm are that it was a legal gun, owned by a legal gun owner, who stored the weapon in his vehicle, and on the 14th of April, in the fourth district, the gun was stolen from the car. And you’ve probably already heard me talk about this, but I don’t know if there’s a police department in the country that allows its officers to store a weapon in a vehicle. Yet, under the structure of the ‘Concealed Carry law,’ and under the structure of the laws of the state of Illinois, it’s okay. That’s insanity. This is madness folks,” said McCarthy.

My sympathy to the parents of Endia. You can find comfort in God’s word the bible. At John 5:28,29 & Isaiah 25:8 we have the hope of being reunited with our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of need.

Why do this keep happening in the Black community?it is my belief that regardless of color, ethnicities, and other socioeconomic differences children should be able to play or walk to school without being murdered.parents should be held responsible for their illiterate, ignor ant children. It is unfAir to the parents and youth that are doing well&illustrate positive behavior. There are way too many dropouts that roam the streets of chicago like ferral dogs.these degenerates should be separated from society. I was raised in Englewood, my parents made sure i went to school and exposed my sister and I to different cultures and college graduTe with my own family now. My children are exposed to positive behaviors we i still morals in our two dAughters. I no longer reside in Englewood, we live in a upscale suburb but my heart aches for the thousands of children residing in Englewood now. Many are being raised by illiterate parents, drug addiction or alcoholism, etc. These degenerates impregnate someone and now the cycle continues. No other race is responsible for our community failures. Parents need to be parents not friends with their children BLACK AMERICA WAKE UP! He educated, stop being ignorant and trying to live the thug life. MANY RAPPERS HAVE NOT LIVED IN GHETTO AREAS,MANY HAVE COLLEGE DEGREE's their ignorant lyrics simply make money for their pockets while the idiots that listen to the crap, wearing jeans low, etc mimick and idolize rappers. PEOPLE RAISE YOUR CHILDREN PROPERLY! My condolences to all victims of this horrendous crime.

Why is so easy for a 14yo to get a gun. Where is the mayor? They are really trying to take this neighborhood. I guess you just give them all guns and let them exteminate themselves. I'm still shocked that the chicago police department finally solved a murder.

McCarthy blames Illinois gun laws and everything but his own ineffectiveness as the chief. What a clown. You would think listening to him, that there was never any murders with stolen firearms before the concealed carry went into effect just a few months ago. Why doesn't the rest of the state have the same problems? Why didn't other states have these troubles when they enacted concealed carry permits (in case you dint know, ALL 49 other states hade CCW before Illinois got it)? Why was Chicago murder capital of the U.S. for decades BEFORE the concealed carry act…DESPITE Chicago having THE most restrictive gun laws (basically an all out ban on hand guns) in the country?
Typical politician, blame everything else. Too bad Chicago didn't have a REAL cop for it's chief.

Love how he blames the stolen legal gun, and concealed carry laws, rather that the punk who stole the gun. This idiot couldn't even be dogcatcher.

No kidding McDrunk, that’s why CCW holders should be allowed to carry at all times… concealed. Not forced by the law to store their gun in their car.

Back in the day, if 2 teen girls argued over a boy, there would be some hair pulling and slaps. Nowadays, one shoots the other in the back.
