A woman rescued from Lake Michigan near Montrose Harbor remains in the hospital. The man believed to have gone into the water after her has not yet been found.
Emergency teams rescued a woman in her 20′s from a nearly freezing Lake Michigan just after 2 a.m.
Rescue teams thought they were done for the night after the woman was pulled from the water. But a witness told police a man she was with went into the lake to help her. Crews searched for the man, but even with a thermal imaging camera they could not find anyone.
A woman who says the missing man is her 20-year-old brother told WGN off camera that her brother, Victor Martinez, was at the harbor with three other people, hanging out — and he went into the lake after his girlfriend decided to go in.
As the sun came up this morning the Police Marine Unit was back in Montrose Harbor. The water and weather conditions kept them from diving.
