An elderly man is dead after a fire in the West Town neighborhood.
The fire broke out at 10:30 Sunday night in a three-flat in the 1900 block of west Ohio. It quickly spread to the building next door.
92-year-old Frank Cecola was trapped on the second floor. Paramedics tried to revive him in the ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Several people who suffered smoke inhalation were attended by paramedics on the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.
About 16 people were displaced as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
