New Orleans socialite dies at 83, appears life-like at memorial party
New Orleans socialite Mickey Easterling insisted that she wanted to go out with a party after she passed away. And so she did.
Mickey died on April 14 at age 83, and her family arranged a wake and party at a New Orleans theatre.
Mickey was all dressed up and propped on a bench, with a champagne glass in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
She was a big philanthropist who loved wearing outlandish clothes and throwing lavish parties.
She used to drive around in a Bentley with a trunk full of iced champagne.
Local jazz musicians played at her party and people toasted Mickey as appetizers went around.
Her daughter says it just what her mom wanted.
