On The Receiving End

In the wake of yesterday’s ninth inning melt down, let’s talk some football. With the D’Backs in town, I thought it might be fun to take a look at Jeff Samardzija versus Kirk Gibson on the grid iron. Both were outstanding receivers. here are the numbers:
Unknown-1
Gibson @ Michigan State  1975-78
112 Receptions
2347 Receiving yards
24 TD’s
16 carries for 144 yds.
Total Yards 2491
Unknown-2
Samardzija @  Notre Dame  2003-2006
179 receptions
2593 yds
27 TD’s
13 Carries for 19 yds
Total Yards 2602.
Gibson led the Big Ten in receptions in 1976.
Samardzija was a consensus All- American in 2005 and finished second in the nation in receiving TD’s
And now back to your regularly scheduled baseball season.
