Motorola showcases on Tuesday it’s new, state-of-the-art headquarters in downtown Chicago.
The company moved its offices from Libertyville to the Merchandise Mart. Motorola is the building’s largest tenant. It has 2,000 employees. It also has 600,000 square feet of office space, and occupies the top three floors and rooftop. The architecture and design firm Gensler designed the entire space.
“Technical talent is in very, very high demand. Many people who are graduating from top universities with technology degrees, they have offers from great companies in major metropolitan areas. And it’s our aim to make Chicago a great destination for them, a destination that rivals places like Silicon Valley,” said Motorola President Rick Osterloh.
Mayor Emanuel also believes this will help Chicago’s digital economy grow, and attract 80,000 jobs over the next five years.
