Bicyclist hit by van in Roselle dies

A bicyclist died after being hit by a van in west suburban Roselle this morning, officials said.
The accident happened about 6:10 a.m. at Roselle Road and Rosemont Avenue, according to Roselle Police Sgt. John Lawson. The driver of the van was headed to work, traveling east on Rosemont, when he struck the bicyclist.
Aerial footage showed the bicycle in the middle of the road and the white van off to the side.
The bicyclist, in his 40s and from Schaumburg, was taken by ambulance to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove, where he was pronounced dead, Larson said.
Lawson said that an accident reconstruction team was on the scene and the accident remained under investigation.
