Police have charged a 32-year-old Chicago man in a beating on the Skokie Swift CTA line that left a 61-year-old man badly bruised late last month.
Ganaa Otgoo, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, has been charged with one count of aggravated battery, the Skokie Police Department announced today.
Surveillance footage and help from citizens helped police identify Otgoo, police said. CTA officials and the Chicago Police Department helped Skokie police during the investigation.
The attacker, who had a purple and white bicycle with him, had been yelling at other passengers around 8:45 p.m. on March 28 when he said something directly to the victim,
Skokie police said. The passenger told the man to leave him alone, but the man pulled the victim’s jacket over his head and began punching him, police said. He then pushed the man to the floor and kicked him in the face, police said. The 61-year-old victim was treated at a hospital for severe bruising, police said.
Police are continuing to ask anyone with information to call Skokie police at 847-982-5900.
