A wrongful death lawsuit was filed on behalf of a man who was attacked by a swan.

Anthony Hensley was responsible for two swans at the bay colony drive condo complex near Des Plaines.

They were used to keep geese away.

Hensley drowned two years ago when one of the swans knocked him out of his kayak, and attacked him as he tried to swim to shore.

Hensley’s wife is suing his employer and the condo complex, saying they should have known the swans are territorial with a propensity to attack.

This has to be a joke. The sad part is that they will probably settle. She shouldn't get a dime AND she should pay everyone who reads this story for being exposed to her stupidity.

If this happened in the course of his job then this is a work comp case. If the work comp insurance company got funny on the claim then she would have to sue to get anything. In many cases of death at work the spouse is entitled to something like 2/3s income for the projected work life of the deceased, plus the morbid numbers they come up with for loss of companionship and such.
Again, she may have been forced to sue because of the insurance company not paying up.
