Duke’s Jabari Parker to enter NBA draft

A bitter end to a brilliant freshman season tempted Jabari Parker to put professional basketball on hold in favor of another year at Duke. But the lure of the NBA was stronger.

The former Simeon star and only two-time Mr. Basketball of Illinois winner declared himself eligible for the NBA’s upcoming June draft, announcing his decision via SI.com.

The National Freshman of the Year and first-team All-American is considered a likely top-three pick along with Kansas products Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid.

    I wish the young man well. What I'd really like see to is more Black youth use education as way a out of poverty. All you have to do is look at job postings there are plenty of 6 figure jobs out if you have the education and skill. Why is it that many Black parents don't push their children to work hard academically? Don't want them to do well and hell out of the deplorable neighborhoods and live the good life? Or is they don't love their children?
