Cops: Sleeping bag, clothing found in ‘suspicious package’ on LSD

Chicago police say an earlier incident involving a suspicious package on Lake Shore Drive at Wilson is over.

Northbound lanes and southbound lanes are now completely open to traffic.

Police say the contents of the package appeared to be a sleeping bag and clothing.

Police received a call just before noon, but didn’t locate the package and shut down LSD until closer to 1 p.m.

The package was discovered near Lake Shore Drive and Lawrence Avenue, police said.

No injuries have been reported.

Chicago Fire Department is now assisting the Chicago Police Department with the suspicious package near the Lawrence overpass on Lake Shore Drive.    

CFD has deployed their haz mat incident team and they are using a 4 wheel robot with arms to inspect the package.

No evacuations are necessary because of the package location.

Chicago police say the incident is over but the contents of
the bag are not known at the moment.
