Details are emerging, two weeks after a dramatic turn of events in a Skokie courtroom.
Two Glenview police officers and three from Chicago all testified against a felony drug suspect March 31st; but then a defense attorney played a police video that exposed the officers’ testimony as a lie.
Cook County Circuit Judge Catherine Haberkorn was furious; the drug charges were dropped, and the officers were stripped of their police powers.
They are Sgt. Theresa Urbanowski and Officer Jim Horn of Glenview and Sgt. James Padar and Officers William Pruente and Vince Morgan of Chicago; now they may face criminal charges if there is proof that they conspired to lie on the witness stand.
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s office is investigating the case; there is no comment from any of the officers involved.
