Andrew Cowen was just 16-years-old the first time he bowled a perfect game – forward.   This past May he made an about face and decided backward would be best.

“There’s never been a 300 bowled backward and I’d like to see what’s possible doing it that way,” he said. He added, “my knees aren’t in the best shape and it takes pressure off my knees to throw backwards.”

On January 2nd of this year, the 32-year-old hit ten strikes at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford scoring 280 points in a single game and breaking the previous world record of 278.

Videos of Andrew have helped him improve and tweak his approach, but the perfect backward game still remains elusive.

Until that happens, he’s committed to a lot more practice and the satisfaction knowing he’s bringing some attention to his beloved sport..
