Storms bring hail and 80 degree weather Saturday, more storms expected Sunday
Residents in the Chicago area experienced some wild weather Saturday and overnight Sunday.
The area was hit with several severe storms, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.
Some residents even reported hail the size of a quarter.
A family in Algonquin was able to make a play day out of the bad weather.
Once the storm blew over, Tom Gerst and his two young sons enjoyed a game of golf, using the hail as golf balls.
Residents across Chicagoland also enjoyed the weather later on Saturday.
Temperatures reached climbed to 80 degrees at one point, marking the warmest day of 2014.
As for the remainder of the weekend, WGN Meteorologist Mike Hamernik says to expect another warm day, although it won’t reach Saturday’s temperatures.
Thunderstorms are expected to roll through Sunday afternoon, and the temperature will only climb to a high of 70 degrees.
That is still significantly better than the polar vortex temperatures Chicago experienced a couple of months ago.
