Chicago Tribune report

Chicago White Sox right fielder Avisail Garcia will miss the rest of the 2014 season after suffering a torn labrum in his left shoulder, the team said Thursday.

Garcia, 22, was placed on the 15-day disabled list and the Sox recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Class AAA Charlotte.

Garcia will undergo season-ending surgery within the next week after suffering the injury Thursday in a 10-4 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Garcia was hurt attempting to make a diving catch in the sixth inning.

Although initial X-rays were negative, an MRI at Rush University Medical Center revealed the torn labrum.

Garcia was batting .267 with two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in eight games.
