From NU to Second City to The Late Show, Stephen Colbert named Letterman’s successor
Family and friends are mourning the loss of a man who was shot and killed in the West Englewood.
33-year old Mario Hess was known as “Blood Money. His cousin is rapper Chief Keef. Hess had just signed a record deal and appeared headed for stardom.
Hess’ cousin and manager Renaldo Hess and other relatives believe jealousy lead to his killing and the shooting of his 28-year-old cousin Darnell Patton.
Police say more than two dozen shots were fired at the two men at 56th and Elizabeth just before 10 last night. Hess was shot as many as ten times. He was driving a brand new Cadillac Escalade and it was known he had received a big check, maybe as much as $100,000 dollars, from the same music label as Chief Keef.Family and friends say even though he had enough money to move away, Hess wanted to stay close to his roots.
Hess had a long record of gun and drug convictions. But relatives say music helped Hess change for the better and he planned to use his new found wealth to improve the lives of his family.
