Teen’s European fieldtrip ‘souvenirs’ really WWI bombs
A little tip from the TSA: Don’t travel with military grade artillery shells.
A couple of teenagers arrived at O’Hare Airport Monday night with large, rusty WWI bombs in their checked bags.
TSA officers contacted police and the FBI then evacuated the baggage room. Bomb experts found the shells wouldn’t work, and no one was ever in danger.
No charges against the teens, who told investigators they were returning from a field trip to Europe. They got the shells at a French WWI I artillery range.
