Cardinal George resumes chemo, cancels trip to Rome
Francis Cardinal George canceled his trip to Rome for the upcoming canonizations of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII.
Cardinal George is following the advice of his doctors who say traveling would put his health at serious risk.
The Cardinal just resumed chemotherapy for kidney cancer, after an infection delayed those treatments last month.
He said during a lecture at St. Xavier University Tuesday night, that it would be foolish for him to risk another infection.
Cardinal George said it was a difficult decision for him to make because Pope John Paul II appointed him a Bishop and elevated him to Cardinal.
He also said that being in Chicago for Holy Week, which starts Sunday, is more important.
