There were two murders this weekend, the same amount on record for the same weekend last year. Still, shootings since Friday appeared to ring out at an alarming rate. The Chicago Tribune reports 25 in all shot on top of the two people killed.

Police are still investigating the shooting death of 16-year-old Michael Flournoy.

The Simeon high school sophomore was shot in the head at 93rd and Dobson Saturday night. He had been arguing with someone in a car outside a church when someone fired and Flournoy was killed.

Yesterday, family and friends gathered at the scene of the crime to place flowers in Michael’s memory. The Simeon wrestling team is also setting up a memorial fund.

Community activist Andrew Holmes says there are two individuals going door to door conning people into giving money on behalf of the family. It’s a scam. Anyone giving money should call Simeon High School first to see if they are legit.

Additionally, 24-year-old Jordan Harris died after he and six other people were shot at a West Side party early Saturday morning.

Weather warmed up and the crime starts to increase. So much for the 3 month decrease hailed by the city for the first 3 FRIGID temperature months of 2014.

STOLE the words right out of my mouth! That's what I came to comment. McCarthy responded that he credits police work to the decline in shootings for Jan-March. What a joke! It was insanely cold, everyone knows when it's cold, THAT cold, crime is low. As always when the weather cracks 50 degrees, it's shootings galore! Idiot McCarthy.

Michael Flournoy and Jordan Harris have died for nothing and before their time, there ought to be some kind of justice for these two boys, any person life is not worth taking for period.
