Possible victim of funeral home bathroom cam: ‘It was humiliating’
The investigation continued Thursday after a video camera was found in the bathroom of a West Side funeral home last week
Chicago police removed items from the Smith and Thomas Funeral in the 5700 block of West Madison.
An employee who discovered the recording device in a first floor restroom called police last week. Police responded, taking the camera from the funeral home that promotes the ability to live stream funerals on its website.
Sources tell WGN, it appears the bathroom camera was connected to something else in the building.
Chicago police officers went in and out for several hours today conducting their investigation.
A number of people either employees or customers came and went. Smith and Thomas remained open for business while police were on the scene.
Clay Young, the brother of the owner, says there is an internal investigation going on as well. Young says his sister has nothing to do with the secret surveillance. He says family members are questioning employees about the matter.
