A man who savagely murdered his young daughter will be sentenced on Friday.
Richard Lyons beat, strangled, and stabbed to death 9 year-old Mya Lyons in July 2008 on the South Side.
He dumped her body in an alley near his home at 84th and Gilbert, and pretended someone else was responsible.
He was found guilty in January after jurors deliberated for less than two hours.
He faces between 20 and 60 years in prison.
Before Friday’s sentencing, the judge was considering two motions from the defense.
One was seeking an aquital, and the other was requesting a new trial.
