No one in custody in shooting of 2 young boys, grandmother

A grandmother and her two grandsons are recovering today after shots fired in the South Shore neighborhood send all three of them to the hospital last night.

5-year-old Kamari Anthony and his cousin 3-year-old Kayden Carlvin went down and their grandmother, Eileen Atwood were injured around 8 p.m. near their home near 78th St and Kingston. Kaydenwas released from the hospital late this afternoon. Kamari has a bullet wound to the stomach and damage to his liver and is expected to remain hospitalized.

The shooting occurred on the same day Chicago Police Superintendent released crime totals that said homicides haven’t been this low since 1958.

No one is in custody. Police continue to investigate.
