Late gay rights pioneer honored at memorial
A gay rights pioneer in Chicago was honored today during a memorial at the Goodman Theater.
Vernita Gray died from cancer earlier this month.She and her longtime partner became the state’s first same-sex couple to be married.
They were granted special permission by a court to marry before the law takes effect because of Gray’s health situation.
Governor Pat Quinn and other local leaders stopped by to pay their respects.
Gray was 65-years-old.
