Through police blinds in suburban Northfield is the unmistakable image of 18-year-old Keith Cozart — better known as rapper Chief Keef.
He’s been at the north suburban police station for hours. By late Wednesday evening, police continued to talk to him inside the interview room at the station. You can even see him getting frisked — not the usual treatment for a music sensation.
Why? Officers aren’t saying much. SkyCam9 captured local police surrounding a house in the 800 block of Happ road earlier Wednesday, which is reportedly rented to Chief Keef’s manager. Yellow tape can be seen for probably six blocks. and police are only allowing residents in the area in or out.
Someone was shot at the home and was taken to Skokie Hospital. That person is now said to be in stable condition, but what happened and exactly when is unclear.
Residents nearby say Chief Keef– who was arrested for driving under the influence on March 5th following a recent stint in rehab — has been known to stay at his manager’s house from time to time. There is often late night activity, and fans who follow Keef often make some noise when they pass by.
As of late Wednesday night, his involvement in the shooting is also unclear. Police aren’t saying much.
