Mother of abandoned baby turns self in to police
The mother of an abandoned baby found over the weekend has turned herself in to police.
The 1-year-old girl was found in the entryway of a South Side apartment building Saturday night.
Police identified both the baby girl and the missing mother, but the mother didn’t come forward until Monday.
The mother reached out to community activist Andrew Holmes, and said she was too scared to turn herself in.
The baby is in good condition and still in DCFS custody.
Charges haven’t been filed against the mother.
