Chicago police are still trying to find the mother of a baby who was found alone in an apartment entryway in the Gresham neighborhood.

Police said the girl has been identified, and is about one-year-old.

A man found her wrapped in a purple blanket Friday night, at a building in the 8200 block of South Justine.

The man says before he found her, a woman asked to use his cell phone to alert police about the abandoned baby.

He suspects the woman could have been the mother.

The girl is in good condition.

She is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services.

Police have reportedly identified the girl’s mother, and are searching for her.
