Thursday is the vernal equinox, the astronomical start of spring, and the Chicago area will actually start experiencing some spring-like weather.
WGN Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling is predicting that the mercury could rise up to 60 degrees on Friday.
The last time Chicago saw 60 degrees was November 17, 2013. The temperature that day? 69 degrees.
But don’t get used to the warmth. Skilling says that on Saturday the jet stream will starting blowing in cold air from Canada, bringing chilly temperatures for the weekend.
