Illinois Gov. Quinn wins Democratic primary

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn coasted to a win in the Democratic gubernatorial primary Tuesday.

Quinn declared victory after scoring 72 percent with 78 percent of the precincts counted.

Challenger Tio Hardiman, the former leader of the anti-violence group CeaseFire had 28 percent.

The primaries were notable for low turnout despite the high-stakes nature of the GOP contest for governor. Quinn was the only statewide Democratic candidate to have a challenge.

The Chicago Tribune contributed to this report.

The people of Illinois are doltish enough to re-elect Mr. Quinn. With run away taxes and spending, only a nutt job would even vote for Mr. Quinn. But last night proved, there are a lot of nutt jobs in the state of Illinois.
