How to Paint Stripes and Add Texture to Walls

You can drastically change the entire look of a room with paint. Why not jazz up your walls with some trendy horizontal or vertical stripes? Or take it up a notch and apply texture to add warmth and comfort to the space.

Supplies for Stripes:

  • Primer
  • 2 paint colors
  • Yard stick
  • Level
  • Paint roller
  • Paint tray
  • Painter’s tape

Steps for Stripes:

  1. Prime the wall
  2. Paint base color
  3. Measure and mark for stripes
  4. Draw guide so tape is straight
  5. Tape off stripes
  6. Roll on 2nd color to fill stripes
  7. Carefully remove tape

Supplies for Texture:

  • Primer
  • 2 paint colors
  • Rough regular texture
  • Trowel
  • Sponge Roller

Steps for Texture:

  1. Prime
  2. Paint base color
  3. Mix color into texture
  4. Dampen sponge roller
  5. Apply texture to wall
  6. Smooth with trowel
