Teen stabbed after refusing to join gang in Little Village

A 16-year-old boy faces charges for stabbing another teen in the neck for refusing to join a gang.

It happened in the 2700 block of South Homan Avenue.

According to police, a group of males approached a 15-year-old boy in an alley and hit him in the face as part of an attempt to recruit him into a gang.

When he didn’t agree to join, they allegedly stabbed him, stole his wallet and put him in a dumpster.

The victim is hospitalized in critical condition.

The suspect is not being identified because of his age.
