A chilly day is on tap for Chicagoland as winter seems like it will never end.
A slightly warmer southeast breeze should help inland temperatures reach the mid-30s this afternoon while lakefront temperatures will stay a touch cooler.
Morning sunshine is expected to fade as clouds move into the area this afternoon.
Under partly cloudy skies our temperatures are forecast to fall into the upper 20s overnight.
The milder conditions set the stage for a significant warm up Tuesday. With partly sunny skies and breezy south winds, highs on Tuesday are expected to reach the low 50s.
Tuesday night brings the chance for rain as colder air moves into the region. That colder air could lead to flurries Wednesday with highs only near 40.
