Des Plaines Oasis closed Sunday night
It’s the end of the road for the Des Plaines Oasis.
The oasis, which has welcomed travelers since 1959, closed at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The overhead oasis will be torn-down as part of a master plan to rebuild and widen the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway. The 7-11 and gas station next to the oasis will remain open.
Removing the oasis will allow a fourth lane to be added in each direction from O’Hare Airport to Elgin.
