A pedestrian died after being hit by a Metra train near the border between Palatine and Inverness this afternoon, a spokesman for the agency said.
The pedestrian was struck and killed about 3:30 p.m. at Baldwin Road near Northwest Highway, said Michael Gillis, a spokesman for Metra.
The train involved was Train 713, which left downtown at 2:30 p.m. and was due in Harvard at 4:20 p.m.
The train was stopped as of about 4:20 p.m. It was scheduled to turn around and be designated as Train 722 back to Chicago, Gillis said. For updates on train delays, check Metra’s website.
