Some of man’s best friends are jumping at the chance to show off their finest this weekend.
The Rock n Roll K9’s, one of the show stealers performing at Arlington Race Track for the 22nd annual Chicago Land Pet Expo.
“Our dogs play musical mats, they high jump, they do an obstacle course which we call our Grand Prix, we have a relay race, all kinds of fun with our pets. Trick dogs.”
“Any dog can do this, we have a variety from Chihuahua’s to Great Dane’s on the team and every size shape and color in between there.”
A killer performance by the pups. And some feathered friends. That bird guy, John Lege soared into town today with nearly two dozen of his flock from his bird sanctuary out east. All in the name of education, and of course, a little fun.
“I’ve had birds since I was 4-years-old,” says Lege.
“I rehabilitate the. I don’t buy birds, I don’t see birds, I don’t breed birds. They come into my sanctuary and have a lot better life than living in a cage.”
“My main focus is education but it’s a fun way of learning about birds from all around the world.”
Birds or dogs not your thing? How about snakes? Reptiles are featured here too. As well as a few felines. And 200 booths of exhibitors all designed around perking up the pets in your life.
From nutritional pet products and treats, to training and vet care. Special doggie duds, like the Poodle Skirt. And even totes for the little ones. For two-legged family members, jewelry, or how about a little puppy pinot.
And if it’s a family addition you’re looking for, rescues and shelters will have plenty up for adoption.
“If there’s an animal you’re looking for and you don’t see it here speak to the rescue groups because they have many animals they can’t bring here. They might have one you’re looking for.
Family pets are asked to stay home. But there is plenty of love here to go around.
