Leaving Las Vegas

UnknownWelcome to Las Vegas. I haven’t been here since 1992 when I was a Las Vegas Star for a few weeks – they were the Padres AAA team in those days. My manager was a young fellow named Jim Riggleman.

My wife reminded me today that her biggest memory of that time was that our very young daughter lost her favorite doll while at a game and the team made a plea over the PA system for its return. Sure enough, someone found it and brought it back.

We saw GM Don Logan before the game and he is still apologizing for the fact my name was misspelled on my jersey. Believe me, that’s not the only time that happened.

The ball really jumps out of this ballpark (not just when I was pitching) and the wind is howling out to right field now so we may see a few bombs from the Cubs and Mets today.
