Falling ice causes damage downtown
As night falls, Randolph’s still blocked at canal, with police on-scene and crews from streets and san keeping an eye out for falling ice.
That’s because a woman’s vehicle was hit by a sheet of ice that fell from a high rise building.
The impact smashed her windshield, nearly killing her.stunned, she pulled over and called 911- hoping to get the road closed. her call was transferred to 311, and she waited, in vain, with a friend, while more more ice came down — some of it hitting pedestrians.
When they flagged-down a police-woman for help, the cop was almost hit and that’s when the road was finally closed, about three hours after that first impact.
