A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon today as light snow spreads across the region through the morning commute.
The snow should taper from snow showers around midday to just passing flurries late this afternoon. Accumulations of 1-3 inches are expected with the heaviest totals coming near the Illinois/Wisconsin border.
An east/northeast breeze and cloudy skies will help keep temperatures well below average today with highs only expected in the mid-20s.
Decreasing clouds should allow temps to fall into the mid-teens overnight.
Partly sunny skies should help temperatures reach the low 30s Thursday. Warmer conditions are in the forecast for Friday with highs near 40, but there is a slight chance for some rain/snow Friday night as a cold front moves through the area.
