Mayor eyes expansion for Soldier Field, Super Bowl bid

Solider Field could be getting even bigger if Mayor Emanuel has his way.

He is reportedly considering a 5000 seat expansion, as the city explores a Super Bowl bid.

The mayor has said Chicago could bid for the Super Bowl as early as 2019.

Right now, Chicago houses the NFL’s smallest stadium, in terms of capacity.

Soldier Field seats 61,500, 8500 shy of the NFL’s preferred minimum for a Super Bowl.
