NJ honor student sues parents to pay for her college tuition
A high school honors student and cheerleader in New Jersey is suing her own parents.
Rachel Canning said they threw her out of their home when she turned 18-years-old and are now refusing to pay for her to go to college.
According to court documents, she wants her parents to pay an unpaid private school bill and her college tuition.
Her father admits that he stopped paying her high school tuition, but says she’ll receive her existing college fund. He said she ran away.
Right now Rachel is living with a friend.
She already has a $20,000 scholarship and said the University of Vermont is her first choice.
