With two weeks until the primary election, Republicans vying for the governor’s mansion chose their target carefully tonight at the second of three debates. All of them seemed determined to take down Bruce Rauner.
There was 90 minutes worth of civil debate with questions from the audience.
Topics included education and the current ISAT debate making headlines lately, pension problems and social issues, too. Even personal and professional relationships with House Speaker Mike Madigan and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel were on the table. And then verbal blows from Republican opponents began. The political punches were largely directed at the man who is breaking records when it comes to funding his own campaign.
Wealthy venture capitalist Bruce Rauner may be spending significantly to splash his name all over the airwaves but he knows if he wins, beating Pat Wuinn is his next big expense.
