A 13-year-old boy has been charged with a felony after he threw a snowball at a police officer on the West Side, hitting him in the arm as he sat in his squad car, officials said.
The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 4900 block of West Congress Parkway, about two blocks from where the student attends school, according to a police report.
The officer reported that the boy threw a snowball at him while he was in a marked squad car.
The boy was taken into custody and charged as a juvenile with aggravated battery to a peace officer, a felony. The Tribune is not naming him because he is a minor.

Big deal, it's a snowball. The evidence probably melted already.

Yeah, it's a big deal. A real lack of respect. Something most kids today know nothing about. Throwing snowballs is one thing. Throwing them at a cop is something else.

Big deal.

A 13 year old should know better than to throw anything at a police officer. The fact that he threw a snowball at a police officer is indicative of his lack of respect for the police. Today ,a harmless snow ball, tomorrow a rock. How is the officer supposed to ascertain what is being thrown at him and with what intent? The police are not out there for fools to throw things at them.
