Murder trial set to begin for former correctional officer

Opening statements could begin today in the trial of a former Cook County correctional officer accused in a road rage murder in northwest Indiana.

Edgar Singleton Jr. is charged with the murder of Montrell Moss, 23.

Singleton is accused of shooting Moss during a road rage incident last summer on Indianapolis Blvd. near the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.

After he was arrested and charged, Singleton was fired by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

His trial is being held at the Lake County, Ind. courthouse in Crown Point.
